Why I Said No to Brow Tattooing Today

A lady came to see me recently because she felt she’d “lost her eyebrows”.

Like many women, she colours her hair and over time her brows had turned white and become less visible. She assumed permanent makeup would be the answer.

But during her consultation, I looked closely at her brows and realised something important.

She already had a lovely natural brow shape.

The hair was still there, in exactly the right place, creating soft, balanced brows that suited her face beautifully. The issue wasn’t the shape or lack of hair. It was simply that the hairs had lost their colour and definition.

In many cases like this, a simple tint and shape can make an enormous difference.

Sometimes just restoring a little depth and contrast is enough to bring the whole face back to life again.

However, there was another complication. She had developed an allergy to brow tint.

So rather than pushing ahead with tattooing because she’d booked a consultation for it, I told her honestly that I didn’t believe it was the best option for her right now.

Instead, I contacted a specialist supplier I trust to discuss potentially suitable alternatives that may work more safely for her skin.

This is something I feel very strongly about.

Not everybody who comes to see me needs permanent makeup.

Sometimes they need guidance.
Sometimes reassurance.
Sometimes a much simpler treatment.

And sometimes the right answer is “no”.

I know it can feel disappointing when you’ve built yourself up for a treatment, but good aesthetic work should never be about selling somebody something they don’t truly need.

My job is to assess your features, your skin, your lifestyle, your expectations, and your long-term outcome. Then guide you towards the option that genuinely suits you best.

That might be permanent makeup.

Or it might not.

Either way, you’ll always receive honest advice.

If you’ve been considering brow tattooing but aren’t sure what you really need, you’re very welcome to book a consultation. We can talk through all the options calmly and without pressure.

Kind regards,
