How Permanent Makeup Can Help After Bell’s Palsy
Bell’s palsy affects thousands of people each year. For many, the temporary paralysis of facial muscles resolves over time — but for some, the effects can be long-lasting. One of the most common challenges clients tell me about is facial asymmetry, particularly around the brows and eyes.
This was exactly the case for my client, who had lived with Bell’s palsy for years. The uneven muscle movement left her with one brow sitting lower than the other. She told me she always avoided eye contact because she felt self-conscious and relied on drawing her brows on daily to mask the difference. Over time, the condition had really knocked her confidence.
The power of permanent makeup
Permanent makeup isn’t about creating “perfect” features — it’s about restoring balance and harmony to the face in a way that looks natural. With careful design and placement, we can adjust the brows to give the illusion of symmetry, lifting the eyes and softening asymmetry.
For this client, I recommended a powder brow treatment. This technique allows for a soft, natural finish, and gives me the flexibility to gradually build colour and shape in the right areas. By mapping carefully and taking her natural features into account, I was able to create brows that balanced her face beautifully.
The transformation
The difference was more than cosmetic. When she looked in the mirror after her treatment, her whole face lit up. For the first time in years, she felt confident enough to look people in the eye without worrying about her brows. She told me it was a huge confidence boost — something makeup alone had never fully given her.
Why this matters
Conditions like Bell’s palsy can affect far more than appearance. They can impact how a person feels about themselves, their social interactions, and even their mental wellbeing. Permanent makeup can play a small but powerful role in helping clients feel like themselves again.
At my Tetbury clinic, I often see women who come to me after medical conditions or life changes that have affected their confidence. Whether it’s Bell’s palsy, hair loss, scarring, or thinning brows through age or menopause, my goal is always the same: to help women feel comfortable, confident, and proud of their reflection.
💚 If you’ve experienced Bell’s palsy or another condition that has changed the way your brows look, you don’t have to struggle alone. A consultation will give us the chance to talk about your options and find the right solution for you.
